Steel flanges – detachable pipe connections

When it comes to detachable pipe connections, you've come to the right place.

The screw connections of our weld neck flanges, loose flanges, blind flanges, plain flanges, threaded flanges and block flanges can be loosened if necessary. This ensures that the pipe spool can be easily opened for maintenance purposes, for inspection reasons or to replace entire line sections. In order to connect pumps or other devices to a pipeline firmly and tightly but releasably, you need the right flange.

We offer all common designs made from the steels P250GH, P265GH, RSt37-2, USt37-1, C22.3, C22.8 and S235JR for your application. Depending on what it looks like, other types of flanges may be your best bet. They differ based on their geometric shape and their connection to the pipe section. It is done either by welding or a thread. For this purpose, threaded flanges have an internal thread with which they can easily be screwed onto a pipe thread.

Why use a welding neck flange?

Welding neck flanges or neck flanges are the most suitable flange shape for higher pressure loads on the pipeline. It is characterized by an approach for welding to a pipe. These flanges are standardized for use in pipelines. The products are suitable for systems with nominal pressures: PN2.5, PN6, PN10, PN16, PN25, PN40, PN63, PN100, PN160, PN250, PN320, PN400

What is the purpose of blind flanges?

If your pipe system contains open ends that you need to close, you can use blind flanges. If necessary, they can easily be removed later and you can continue building in the appropriate place. They therefore consist of a closed surface that only has the holes for the screws.

When are fix plain flanges suitable?

Permanently welded plain flanges are often used in pairs with a matching loose flange. For example, it is held on the pipeline using the smooth collars or welding collars that we also stock. The loose flange remains rotatable and movable on the pipe.

Hot tip: Block flanges according to DIN 28117 and DIN 86041-1

We stock special flanges for special use in container construction. They are characterized by the fact that they have blind screw holes with an internal thread. It refers to:· Block flanges for general container construction according to DIN 28117 and Welding flanges DIN 86041-1 for containers and sea chests on ships.

Permissible manufacturing process for flanges

The methods permitted for flange manufacturing vary depending on the type of flange. For example, weld neck flanges of the most common sizes must be forged or made from bars or shaped steel. Production from flat products or by casting is not permitted. Production from flat products such as sheets for flanges with a flat design is also permitted. These include blind flanges, plain flanges and loose flanges. The last two may also be made of bent steel or strip and electrically welded.

How do the screw holes get into the flange?

There are different ways to make the screw holes in the flange. Most often they are drilled during the manufacturing process. But clean punching is also a process that is regularly used in practice. Both processes are part of the standardized manufacturing process. Each flange has a number of screw holes that can be divided by four and are symmetrical to the two main axes.

What is the purpose of the flange markings?

Flanges are permanently marked on the circumferential surface using steel stamping. This ensures the traceability of the product and the assignment to a manufacturer certificate.

Individual requirements for your flanges

The selection you see here is not everything we offer. We always have these products in stock and can therefore ship them at any time. But if they don't meet your needs, don't be afraid to talk to us about it. For example, if you would like a flange without screw holes, please send us a request with this requirement by email to team@protubo.biz. We will then create an individual offer for you.

Sometimes you may also stumble upon a problem: the flange size you need no longer exists in the new EN 1092-1, but it was still included in the previous DIN. If this occurs, it is still permissible to use the flanges according to the DIN standard. You can find many of these older intermediate dimensions at protubo.biz. If the required size is not listed, simply send us a request by email.

How are the flanges safely packaged?
We pay particular attention to the safe packaging and protection of all goods.

Flanges in particular are treated with the greatest care so that they reach you safely. We choose from a variety of different types of packaging and rely on shipping options from our reliable and long-standing partners. You will know that your protubo.biz order has arrived as soon as you receive it - you don't have to open the package first.
